Oracle tried to sell Sun hardware, as it was originally only interested in Sun's Java, Solaris, and MySQL assets. Evidences show that certifications concerning Java, Solaris, and MySQL must be hot in the near future.

As the acquisition of Sun Microsystems by Oracle reported on April 20th, 2009, it has become a hot topic of all the major websites. Some even described this impending acquisition as “the most important decision in the software industry of 2009.”

Oracle and Sun announced the planned $5.6bn acquisition on April 20, while two months later, it is reported that Oracle are trying to sell Sun’s hardware. Oracle's top brass has tried to convince Sun Microsystems' staff that they love hardware. However, even after the official announcement of its intention to buy Sun and after it promised to the Sun Microsystems’ stuff that they love hardware; still it tries to shop the Sun’s software business to the potential buyers.

Insiders said that it is reasonable for Oracle to sell Sun’s software, as Oracle was originally only interested in Sun’s Java, Solaris, and MySQL assets. It is unclear whether Oracle is actively trying to sell Sun's hardware business after lowering the asking price because the current price is considered to be “unrealistic”.

What we can confirm is that software as Java, Solaris, and MySQL must be a hot spot in the future IT industry, since Oracle buy Sun only for its software. As a result, more such professionals are needed in the market not long after.

“Supply and demand is hard to balance in today’s job hunting market. A shortcut to get hired or promotion is to meet the market’s shortage,” said Neil Sterling, President and Founder of certinside. “In fact, our customers are sensitive to this trend. During the past two months, sales of Sun’s Java, Solaris, and MySQL related exams rose sharply. It is predicted that in the following months, relevant certifications will draw more attention in this industry.”

What is the next step of Oracle-Sun acquisition remains unknown. But the bright future of these Java, Solaris, and MySQL concerned certifications can be foreseen.
